The 2013 Free Agency kicked off with the Knicks adding Raptors Andrea Bargnani in exchange for Marcus Camby and Sharpshooter Steve Novak, a future first-round pick and two future second-round picks.
The deal has officially gone through and Bargnani with be joining Melo and A’mare in New York, but the big glaring question is does this Make JR Smith more expendable and does this move make the Knicks dramatically better?
Many lean to the side of “Maybe” as there is a huge question mark when it comes to Andrea Bargnani as he missed 82 games over the past two seasons but averaged 21.4 points a game in 2010-11. He has the ability to stretch the floor, but with everyone on the Knicks wanting the ball, is there enough possessions to ensure the ball gets to everyone.
Also does this move mean the Knicks are “okay” with JR Smith moving to another team? With Bargnani possibly becoming their official 6th man, can we expect JR Smith to find a new home?
After his horrific post season, his stock went dramatically down, but teams will still want him instant offense and defensive intensity.
