Knicks Re-sign JR Smith, Nets Still Better?

JR SmithBefore the 2013 NBA Playoffs, JR Smith looked to be one of the hottest free agents coming into July, but much of hype disappeared after a horrible performance in the 1st round. Many teams were turned off by his lack of toughness and inability to pass the ball when he clearly was struggling from the floor.

After it was all said and done, he ended up re-signing with the Knicks with a 4 yr / 24 million dollar deal. Many may turn their heads for the Knicks paying him so much, but the word is that he is still tradeable with that signing.

The Knicks look to have a great line-up and team on paper with the addition of Bargnani and the re-signing of JR Smith along with a possibly healthy Amar’e Stoudemire¬†but the elephant in the room is if they can all work together for a common goal…. an NBA Championship. Carmelo seems to be willing to put in the work, but are the role players around him ready?

Also with the re-signing of JR Smith doesn’t appear to be enough to put the Knicks over the newly stacked Brooklyn Nets as the Knicks still need to figure out if Tyson Chandler is the right fit at Center. His performance or lack there of in the playoffs made many question if he still has what it takes to be a premier center in the league.

Only time will tell!
