Boston Celtics center Joel Anthony grew up in Montreal, Canada, and recently returned to his old stomping grounds to host a youth basketball camp for kids ages 6-12 at Dawson College. During the camp he personally led the campers through drills and offered up words of advice and motivation. He even laced up the kicks and took the court, showing off a couple moves for the youngsters.
“Everyone understands that the youth is our future,” said Anthony. “I wanted to give them some type of structure to do something with their time.”
All proceeds fro the camp went to benefit Union United Church.
Joel Anthony found his way to the NBA via Pensacola Junior College and UNLV. Though he went undrafted in 2007 he was picked up by the Miami Heat that same year and went on to help the Heat to back-to-back NBA Championships in 2013 and 2014. This off-season he was traded to the Celtics, and hopes to bring the same success to Boston.
