Spalding Launches New Branding Campaign Featuring DeMar DeRozan and Damian Lillard


Earlier this month, the popular athletic brand Spalding reignited their passion for the sport of basketball by launching the campaign titled #TrueBelievers, which is meant to focus on the movement of surrounding those who have an uncompromising confidence that is needed to overcome anything. The theme of the campaign is structured for customers and fans to know that they can defy all odds no matter what the obstacle is, and is geared towards building a worldly multi-platform planet around the modern athlete’s lifestyle. Spalding is hoping to gain wave with this campaign by integrating the use of social media platforms as a means to get things trending and popular with the technology-driven society we live in these days.

DeMar DeRozan spaldingDeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors and Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers are set to boost Spalding’s mission with #TrueBelievers to get fans to participate at a faster speed and frequency. There was a special interview that took place on February 4th with both athletes, who got to share more about what’s coming up in their careers and match-up against one another in an NBA game. The pair also got to discuss what it means to be a “True Believer” as they have both had to overcome lots of obstacles to be as successful as they are in the world of basketball. Over the course of this campaign, there will be lots of advertising that includes storytelling, rich media, events, and a fantastic social media presence over the next few months. In addition to that, users will be able to generate a nickname for themselves through an intuitive questionnaire in which the brand endorsers, DeRozan and Lillard, will deliver to them.

DeRozen is a native of Compton, California where he was a standout basketball player during his high school years and even got ranked as #3 in the nation by the popular scouting website, Rivals.com. He did two years of college at USC before entering the 2009 NBA Draft and was picked up by the Toronto Raptors in the first round as the 9th overall pick. He currently is still on the active roster for the Raptors and helps the team get some of those amazing wins every season. Lillard is from Oakland, California and also had a fantastic high school basketball career as a teenager. Even though he wasn’t ranked too high by Rivals.com, he was offered an athletic scholarship from Weber State University where he attended and played for four years between 2008-2012. The two-time NBA All-Star player entered the 2012 NBA Draft and was selected as the 6th overall pick by the Portland Trail Blazers with whom he still is associated with today.

The duo recently got involved with the Spalding company earlier this month and have become the brand’s latest ambassadors. Be sure to keep a look out for them on social media events, commercials, and other Spalding-related media.
